Tahoeza

Kind friends,

We are alive and well in our new home at Tahoe. Our move was smooth - after crashing on the couches of friends for a few nights, we landed a wonderful townhouse that is only 4 blocks from the lake, 3 blocks from both our workplaces (besides Mar's internship in South Lake), and about 15 blocks from the mountain. Pretty killer. We are still ironing out lots of logistics, but for the moment we are happy and content. Deva, our roommate, will arrive September 12th to move in and boogie-down for Mar's birthday, the 13th.

Below are rows of pictures for you to enjoy. They begin a few nights before leaving Eugene and continue up to the present. As you'll see, we have an extra bedroom, so please come and visit us! Oh, if you'd like to send anything to us, here is the address:

P.O. box 4440
Incline Village, NV, 89450

(Yeah, we know you're thinking: What, Nevada? Well, yes, we live in Nevada - about 2 minutes from the both the Cali border and a massive state park along the east side of the lake. But don't be haters - Nevada is actually pretty sweet, especially this part of it. Natural beauty + loose liquor laws = fun all around)

The Beauty of Innuendoes

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections,
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling,
Or just after.

Like A Fat Gold Watch

Love set you going like a fat gold watch.
The midwife slapped your footsoles, and your bald cry
Took its place among the elements.

The Daily News

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
                        for lack
of what is found there."

--William Carlos Williams, from "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"

yo, we're home

We've been home for a while now - somewhere close to 3 weeks. We played in Oregon with the Stater clan for some time, then separated to our respective homes until August, when we'll be moving to Tahoe. We'll likely be there for a while, so if you're reading this, you should probably stop messing around on the internet and come visit us. We'd love to have you. Stay connected, and be well. Much love - M & A

Life Goes On

A brief update on things in Central America...

Climbing out of Panama...

Like WOW how ya'll like me NOW?

We moved into a little, bug-infested trailer in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. It lacks a bathroom door and any real living space, but its got a killer balcony and a very convenient location - our office is only 3 blocks away. So, as usual, Mariya and Adam get a little closer.

(The bathroom - daily raising our levels of comfort with one another)

The Arenal Volcano, topped with clouds and struck with sun.

Mariya's good friend from home, Jordan, came and visited us for a few fun days.

This is the wonderful waterfall/ropeswing/ swimming hole by our house.

Mindy came! We spent a few days playing in the bohemian beach town of Montezuma and then returned to La Fortuna. Good times all around.

Mindy decided that the best way to end this night was on the bathroom floor, because the tile was "so cold, so solid." In her defense, our room was very hot and the tiles were quite cold.

Dogs dig Adam.

Someone died jumping from the top of this waterfall the previous day. We didn't.

Goodbye Mindy!

We decided to mourn Mindy's departure by taking a trip to our local hot springs...

...then got back to work.

Our time here is dwindling. In a few weeks we will return to the US to continue the adventure. See you on the other side.
